Intrinsic and
Extrinsic Motivation
Intrinsic motivation
is when someone is motivated by personal desires,
while extrinsic motivation is when they're motivated
by possible rewards or to avoid consequences.
Intrinsic motivation is driven by the desire to
engage in an activity for its own sake.
Extrinsic motivation is defined as a motivation to
do something or participate in an activity based on
meeting an external goal, garnering recognition,
praise and/or approval, winning a competition,
and/or receiving a reward.

Intrinsic Motivation
and Motivators
Intrinsic motivation is an inherent desire to do
something. When intrinsically motivated, a person is
moved to act for the “rewards for the soul”, joy,
fun or challenge entailed rather than because of
external pressures or incentives.
The 4 Most Powerful Intrinsic Motivators are
Passion; Purpose; Desire; and Fulfillment.
PASSION
Everything inspires you if you are truly passionate
about what you do. "Neither a lofty degree of
intelligence nor imagination nor both together go to
the making of genius. Love, love, love, that is the
soul of genius," said Mozart.
PURPOSE
Your big passion will define your big purpose and
help you achieve it. Your big passion and big
purpose work together and reinforce each other. Your
big purpose inspires you to give your best to it,
aligns your efforts, and fuels your passion.
DESIRE
A burning desire is a bridge between impossible and
possible. Appreciate the power of your burning
desire as your undefeatable inner self that leads
you towards your dream and helps you make it a
reality.
FULFILLMENT
The greatest moments of fulfillment cannot be
completely explained by words. The language of the
heart only can articulate their value.
Lasting intrinsic motivation an inner perpetuum
mobile of relentless creators, innovators, and
entrepreneurs. It is a super-powerful synergistic
mix of a noble passion, burning desire, higher
purpose, and creative fulfillment.
Enjoy What You Are Doing
Intrinsic motivation is the incentive you feel to do
something or to complete a task simply because you
find it interesting or enjoyable.
Cultivate the factors fostering your drive to keep
achieving your stretch goals, enhancing your
performance, and bettering your life.
If you find a task boring, figure out how to spark
your curiosity and turn uninspiring activities into
interesting challenges.
Drivers of Intrinsic Motivation
Effective drivers of intrinsic motivation are
Passion; Higher Purpose; Commitment; Values;
Perceived Life Mission; Personal Goals;
Self-Development; Fulfillment; Pleasure; Joy; Fun;
Curiosity; Interest; Dissatisfaction; Desire;
Self-Confidence; Autonomy; Engagement.
How To Increase Your Intrinsic Motivation
•Focus on your higher goals while doing small tasks;
•Reframe a boring task to make it exciting;
•Identify opportunities to do things in a way that
suits you best;
•Adjust the level of difficulty of a too-easy
activity to make it more challenging;
•Fall in love in a too-difficult activity to make it
interesting and inspiring your entrepreneurial
creativity;
•Identify how the activity fosters and supports your
values to align with your higher self.
